About Us

Team Bio:

personel bio picDebbie Hughes has always loved horses, but the training of them came out of necessity in the beginning. Having to make safe and reliable horses from scruffy little range ponies, helped develop her quiet, kind manner when working with horses (and people).

Being very competitive, she explored any opportunity in the horse world. Rodeo, Chariot Racing, Team Roping, Team penning and timed events were her main focus, but her passion was and still is working with young horses.
She has ridden with and taken instruction from some of the leading horsemen in the industry, but the highlight of her career was a tour of Spain with Ray Hunt, focusing on colt starting and problem horses. For 2 years Debbie worked as an assistant clinician with Bill Richey, NMPH, teaching Equine confidence and De-spooking clinics in B.C.

Always looking for something to challenge herself and the horses she rides, she researched mountain trail. It seemed a perfect addition to enhance her training program with young horses. Since then she has taken many indoor and outdoor clinics from the leaders and national champions in mountain trail.  Debbie’s goal is to continue to learn and pass her knowledge on to other riders, helping develop the sport of Mountain Trail.

personel bio picLevi Hughes is Debbie's son. An accomplished rider and Roper, Levi has been 'in the saddle' since about 18 months old. His passion has always been to become a Pro Rodeo athelete. He entered his first Little Britches Rodeo at age 4, won his first 'All Round Cowboy' saddle at 12, and went on to become a B.C. and then Canadian Champion for Tie Down Roping in High School Rodeo in his final year. Currently he is very active in Team Roping and has come out on top in many events throughout the Pacific Northwest. In 2011 he participated in the World Series of Team Roping in Las Vegas where he made it through to the 4th round. When not away roping, Levi helps at the Clinics with horses and riders making sure they are safe and able to complete the various obstacles.

personel bio picPaul Evenden: Although much more at home on the stage with his band Copper Sky, or racing his Hobiecat sailboat, Paul has taken to life with horses quite well. Known to be a 'decent' rider, he is also very handy at fixing things around the farm. As a big supporter of Debbie's clinics, Paul has taken on the role of Official Photographer and provides proof positive of the riders various accomplishments.
